Ao Manao

It came from the Thai words meaning Lime Bay. It’s one of a kind, amazingly beautiful white sand public beach and its beautiful natural scenery. Anyone can enjoy doing something for recreation, especially it’s a ideal place for swimming. At low tide, the sand is completely exposed – sandbar stretching along the shore where you can stroll. Lime Bay is located in The Fifth Aviation Regiment, Thai Air Force. At the far south end of the bay is the mountain called Kao Lom Muak, separating between Ao Manao and Ao Prachuab. After reaching the top of the mountain you will see a replica of the Buddha’s footprint. Yet on the hillside there is a holy place; wildlife sanctuary set up, a protected area for languors. Ao Manao used to be a battlefield in World War II between Thai troops and Japanese troops. Nowadays inside the Air Force Base, you will see a warrior monument with an airman at the aircraft propeller noticeably carrying a flag facing toward the bay.

It is known in Thai as Koh Talu, a small island situated about 7 kilometers away from beach embracing Ban Nong-Samed. About half an hour taken to get to the island by boat. In case of boarding speedboat, it takes just only 15 minutes to arrive on the island. Thousands of dead corals piled up, caused by waves, around this island like a graveyard of the sea. The North side is a high cliff overlooking white sandy beaches. Some part of earth is worn away and carved, becoming large wide channel caused by water and wind erosion; you can then easily see the other side of the sea. This’s how this island got its name.

It’s a marine national park located in Samroiyod District, Prachuab Khiri Khan; great place for travelers to get away from the hustle and bustle of typical tourist destinations. The place’s name is synonymous with “the mountain of 300 peaks, one of some local legends of its name. The area also has other tales to tell; a Chinese trading junk, another one of tales, is said to have sunk at some stage, just its three hundred survivors taking refuge on an island. Such area was called Ko Sam Roi Yod or Island of 300 Peaks, which by nature became “Mountain (Khao) of 300 Peaks” when the sea receded. This area used to be called Ao Talay Sarb (Lake Bay). Remains of aged masts have been found in such area.

This amazing and wonderful stupa was built for Golden Jubilee of King Rama IX, the international celebration, marking the 50th anniversary of the accession of King Rama IX to the throne. It’s part of Unseen Thailand Tourist Treasures. The temple is situated on Thongchai Hill. The bell-shaped Stupa features a beautiful set of nine-peak pagoda. The building consists of five floors. The temple was completely built with the help of the faithful Thais’ donations.

Sing Khon Border known as Dan Sing Khon in Thai, is a main passage (used as a shortcut from Indian Ocean to Thai Gulf since centuries) between Thailand and Myanmar. The border, at milestone 331 Nong Hin Sub-district Klongwan District, is set up as geographic boundary at the narrowest part of Thailand, just 12 kilometers wide. At this checkpoint area, there is a big market place called “Thai – Sing Khon Market” having local foods from both Myanmar and Thailand for visitors who enjoy shopping.
